Along with blogs, social networks are the new big deal in the netosphere. And for any good CMS to contend in this arena it should be prepared to perform any social networking tasks. At it's present state GL2 is a perfect candidate for adding the ability to perform these tasks. And using Google's OpenSocial APIs is the perfect way to add this functionality.

Objective

Develop a plugin that utilizes Google's OpenSocial APIs to provide all the functions common to a social networking site.

Level of Difficulty

hard

This may prove to be a difficult undertaking for a student new to open source development. But with a good understanding of the internals of both the GL2 APIs and the Google OpenSocial APIs this plugin can be pulled off and provide some nice features to GL2.
